Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School junior Jared Wood was taken aback by so many strange buildings burned and riddled with gunfire as he was amazed by the machete scars on the arms of his dark jovial Santa Claus-like host Gatabazi Pastor Alfred.

"People living in Rwanda with reminders of the day to day genocide," says Wood.

Gatabazi was the age of the wood when he got a machete massacres of Hutus in an ethnic minority in Rwanda, the Tutsis in 1994.

The Christian pastor was eager to accommodate timber, his mother, Cynthia, Penn State Altoona in business administration professor and four students at Penn State Altoona in Rwanda for a week last month.
