So when Tennant Creek had its first several years NAIDOC celebrations this month - a NAIDOC ball - the organizers were at a loss as to how their clients find the right dress.

A call to alms was sent by e-mail through the network of public service, asking for donations of dresses, jewelry and accessories associated with the beads.

The email went viral and the story was broadcast on ABC local radio in Canberra, leading to a total of about 20 bags of gifts ready for transportation of Tennant Creek.

"All of a sudden started to swing dresses with jewelry, costumes and beautiful fur coats and things just wonderful," Tennant Creek NAIDOC committee said Sarah Watkins.
